REQUEST FOR VIDEO AUDITION SUBMISSIONS

SoulKiss Theater is seeking actors for the upcoming Fall presentation of AND WE DANCED by Miki Vale and GAME NIGHT by Queen Kandi Cole, co-produced by The Old Globe’s Arts Engagement coLAB Project in San Diego.

Roles we are currently looking to fill: 

For GAME NIGHT: 

Kelani – 32. Black queer woman. 

Lisa/L.J. – 33. Black gender non-conforming. 

Braylen –  34 Black man. 

For AND WE DANCED:

RUTH ELLIS - Black, masculine presenting lesbian, in her 90s

CHANEL- Black woman 30s

RENE - Black woman 30s

CECILINE “BABE” FRANKLIN  - Black woman, soft, kind, timeless

MIKI - Black woman 30s/early 40s. Loves antiques and music

WAYNE (ALSO PLAYS WESLEY) - Black male 30s, Miki’s roommate. Animated. Airy, care-free, irresponsible. Well-versed in sarcasm. A little snotty at times, self-centered all the time. Does care though has a unique way of showing it.

The Real RUTH: In 2021 she’s fun and playful (40s-50s)

The Real BABE: A firecracker.  Madam-type attitude. Carries herself with an untouchable swagger.  Will curse someone out in a second. Hairpin trigger temper.

WANDA MORGAN - Black woman late 20s/ early 30s. Soft, loving, caring. Dripping with sex appeal, knows it, shows it but doesn’t depend on it. 

Please feel free to indicate which show you are interested in auditioning for in your submission.  You may audition for both using one side. 

Commitment Dates: 

Rehearsal Dates: September 6^th – October 6^th. Please note: since these are one-act plays, the rehearsal schedule will be no more than 5-days a week during nights and weekends.  We will be able to have some flexibility with sporadic conflicts, please submit if you can work with the majority of this time window. 

Performance Dates: October 7^th – October 23^rd, Thursday – Sunday.  These dates are non-negotiable.  

Pay: This project will provide all actors a $600 stipend for their participation in this project.  

To audition: Please pick ONE of the attached sides below and film yourself performing the piece.  Cell phone videos are ok as long as we can see and hear you.  To be considered for this production, please submit your videoed audition no later than 11:59pm August 29^th, 2022 to soulkisstheater@gmail.com
